Properties:
Ammonium polyphosphate appears as a white powder, nearly neutral, can be mixed with any other substance, but does not have chemical changes. Short chain (n≤20)APP is water soluble, while long chain (n>20)APP is insoluble in water. The solubility of industrial APP in water is 1.3g/100mL(15ºC) or 3.0g/100mL(25ºC). APP can be hydrolyzed. The hydrolysis rate varies with particle size, temperature and pH value, and the hydrolysis speed is accelerated with the increase of temperature and the decrease of pH value. APP has good thermal stability, and the thermal decomposition temperature is above 250ºC.
Application:
Ammonium polyphosphate is a kind of polyphosphate containing N and P, APP for short. According to the degree of polymerization, it can be divided into oligomerization, medium polymerization and high polymerization. When the degree of polymerization is below 20, it is called oligomerization, which is water soluble. When the degree of polymerization is above 50, it is called high polymerization, which can be used as flame retardant.
Widely used in expansive fireproof coatings, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane, epoxy resin, rubber products, fiberboard and dry powder fire extinguishing agent, is a safe use of high efficiency nitrogen and phosphorus non-halogen smoke retardant
