Introduction: 
 

Protocatechuic aldehyde is a phenolic aldehyde, a compound released from cork stoppers into wine.

This molecule can be used as a precursor in the vanillin synthesis by biotransformation by cell cultures of Capsicum frutescens, a type of Chili pepper. It is also found in the mushroom Phellinus linteus.

Scope of application:

Protocatechualdehyde has the effect of anti-inflammation and increasing coronary blood flow. It is an effective ingredient in anti-angina pectoris in the leaves of the four season. It is one of the main effective ingredients in the treatment of nephritis. Also used in spice synthesis.
