Minoxidil, also known as loniten and minodyl. Its molecular formula and relative molecular mass are C9H15N5O = 209.25. It is a white or off-white crystalline powder. Slightly soluble in water , slightly soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble, and soluble in glacial acetic acid. It can act directly on the blood vessel wall, dilate small arteries, reduce peripheral resistance, and lower blood pressure. It can also increase heart rate and cardiac output. However, its antihypertensive effect is significantly and lastingly more prominent than that of hydralazine.
Uses:
1.Antihypertensive drugs are used for intractable, essential or renal hypertension. Used for preventing seborrheic alopecia and in animal husbandry.
2. Antihypertensive drugs are used for the treatment of intractable, essential or renal hypertension.
