• Basic Information: Its chemical formula is C2H7NO3S, and the molecular weight is about 125.15 g/mol. Pure taurine is a colorless or white oblique crystal, odorless, and chemically stable. It is soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents such as ether.
• Source and Existence: Taurine naturally exists in animal - based foods, especially in oysters, clams, beef, fish (especially deep - sea fish), and dairy products. Plants contain very little or no taurine. The human body can synthesize a small amount of taurine through the cysteine metabolic pathway. However, infants, the elderly, or those in special physiological states may have insufficient synthesis and need to rely on exogenous supplementation.
