Povidone iodine is an unstable complex complex formed by the complexation of surface active agent and iodine. It belongs to the iovidone class of external disinfectants. Under normal temperature, it is yellow brown to reddish brown amorphous powder, soluble in water or ethanol, insoluble in ether.
Povidone iodine is a porous complex formed by the combination of elemental iodine and polymer carrier. Povidone acts as carrier and solubilizer. Normal temperature is yellow brown to brown red amorphous powder. Slight odor, soluble in water or ethanol, aqueous solution is acidic. Povidone iodine solution has no shortcomings of iodine tincture, light coloring, easy elution, little mucosal irritation, no need for ethanol deiodination, no corrosion, and low toxicity.
Application:
