The pure l-menthol was obtained by recrystallizing the crystallized
peppermint oil after freezing and centrifugation with low boiling
solvent. The mother liquor after crystallization still contains 40%~50%
menthol and a large amount of menthol, which is converted into a mixture
of L-menthol and d-neomenthol by hydrogenation. More l-menthol can be
obtained by saponifying part of the ester, crystallizing, distilling or
making its borate ester, and then separating other parts of peppermint

Application

1. Flavoring agent for toothpaste, perfume, beverage and candy
2. For external use, it is used for local anti-inflammatory, analgesic,
antipruritic, headache, dizziness and mosquito bites; Nasal drip for cold
nasal congestion, inhalation or spray for pharyngitis; Oral
administration can strengthen the stomach
3. Taken orally, it can be used as a wind repellent for headache,
nasopharynx, laryngitis, etc
