Isopropyl myristate is miscible with water. Isopropyl myristate has good lubricity and permeability, can improve the affinity to the skin, and is a lower alcohol ester of higher fatty acids.

Isopropyl myristate is used in a variety of topical preparations and cosmetics, including bath oils, cosmetics, hair and nail care products, face creams, lotions, lip balms, shaving creams, emollients, deodorants, ear suspensions, and vaginal creams.For example, isopropyl myristate is a self-emulsifying ingredient in a prescription for a cold cream that can be used as a base for many medicines and skin medications;In cosmetics, it is also used in a stable mixture of water and glycerin.Isopropyl myristate can be used as a penetration enhancer in transdermal absorption preparations and can be combined with ultrasound and iontophoresis for treatment.Nutmeg acid isopropyl ester in oil - water gel sustained-release cream (water - oil gel prolonged - release emulsion) can be used as the main components of the oil phase
