Glutaraldehyde is used for disinfection, pharmaceuticals, tanning, and as a hardening agent for electron microscopes and color display tubes. This product is used for the production of central stimulant alkaloids such as cauliflower hydrochloride. Glutaraldehyde is a fast acting, broad-spectrum chemical disinfectant that can exhibit activity against many microorganisms in low concentration aqueous solutions at room temperature. It has a high sterilization effect on reproductive bacteria, viruses, mycobacteria, pathogenic molds, and bacterial spores, and has very low toxicity to humans. Some people say that formaldehyde was used in the early 2000s, Currently, glutaraldehyde is the third milestone. In 1973, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended Sanpin as a disinfectant for hepatitis B virus. Among known aldehydes, glutaraldehyde is the best protein crosslinking agent, characterized by high activity, fast reaction, high binding capacity, stable product, and strong resistance to boiling water, acids, and enzymes. Therefore, leather tanned with glutaraldehyde has excellent properties such as sweat resistance, heat resistance, and soap washing resistance.
