Hyaluronic acid is an acidic mucopolysaccharide. With its unique molecular structure and physicochemical properties, it shows a variety of important physiological functions in the body, such as lubricating joints, regulating the permeability of blood vessel walls, regulating the diffusion and transport of proteins, water and electrolytes, and promoting wound healing. Particularly important is that hyaluronic acid has a special water-retaining effect. It is currently the substance with the best moisturizing property found in nature and is called an ideal natural moisturizing factor.
The efficacy and Function of hyaluronic acid:
1. It has excellent affinity for water. Inside the tissue, it reorganizes water to better bear loads or lubricate.
2. It folds to form a three-dimensional network and produces physiological effects. This includes generating fluid resistance, maintaining the body's water balance and internal environment stability, affecting the solubility, spatial configuration, chemical equilibrium and systemic osmotic pressure of biological macromolecules, preventing pathogen release, and guiding the deposition of secretory substances from collagen fibers.
3. It connects with inseparable proteins to form a polymer to maintain the shape and volume of the tissue and ensure the reversible compressive resistance of the tissue.
4. It has a certain effect on macrophages, mucous cells, lymphocytes, and natural killer cells.
5. Hyaluronic acid (abbreviated as HA) is an important component of the interstitial space and is mainly degraded in the liver. During liver fibrosis activities, HA synthesis increases. Coupled with the reduced liver function in cirrhosis, the blood HA level is abnormally elevated. Currently, evaluating HA is a highly sensitive and specific indicator for diagnosing the degree of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis.
