Pheno'l is an important organic chemical raw material. It can be used to produce pheno'lic resin, caprolactam, bispheno'l A, salicylic acid, picri'c acid, pentachloropheno'l, 2,4-D, adipic acid, pheno'lphthalein n-acetylethoxyaniline and other chemical products and intermediates. It has important uses in chemical raw materials, alkyl pheno'ls, synthetic fibers, plastics, synthetic rubber, medicine, pesticides, spices, dyes, coatings, oil refining and other industries. In addition, pheno'l can also be used as a solvent, experimental reagent and disinfectant. The aqueous solution of pheno'l can separate proteins from DNA on chromosomes in plant cells, facilitating the staining of DNA.
