Properties
Chlorinated paraffin is the product of paraffin after chlorination, C10 ~ C30 straight chain paraffin CI derivatives collectively, is a mixture. General product CI content is 40% ~ 70%, with the increase of CI content, color from light yellow and dark yellow. Insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in a variety of organic solvents. At 120ºC to decompose, release hydrogen chloride gas. It has excellent fat-adding properties, strong binding force with leather fiber and good light resistance. Chlorinated paraffins are mainly used as resin plasticizers, resins and rubber flame retardants. It can also be used as an additive for paint and lubricating oil. According to the CI content can be divided into 42%, 52%, 70% three kinds.
Chlorinated paraffin 42: light yellow viscous liquid, freezing point -30ºC, relative density 1.16(25/25ºC), soluble in organic solvents and various mineral oils, insoluble in water, small volatility, flame retardant and electrical insulation properties, poor compatibility, used as an auxiliary plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride;
Chlorinated paraffin 52: , light yellow viscous liquid, set at <-20ºC, relative density: 1.22 ~ 1.26(2chemical book5/25ºC), soluble in phenyl ether, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in water, used as an auxiliary plasticizer of polyvinyl chloride, can also be used for rubber products;
Chlorinated paraffin 70: white or light yellow resinous powder, relative density 1.65(25/4 ° C), mainly used as a flame retardant, but also used in coatings. Chlorinated paraffins are used in petroleum products as anticoagulant, viscosifier, cutting oil and tanning leather. Paraffin wax from different specifications of raw materials is refined, impurities and water are removed, and chlorinated.
Application
Chlorinated paraffin is a odorless, non-toxic, flame retardant and low volatile viscous liquid, low volatility, good electrical insulation, insoluble in water, ethanol, ethylene glycol and glycerol, soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorides. It can be used as a plasticizer for PVC, an additive for rubber, coatings and inks, an additive for mechanical processing lubricants, and a flame retardant for plastics and rubber.
