Isothiazolinone is an excellent water treatment agent with good miscibility. It can be mixed with various corrosion inhibitors such as, scale inhibitors, and dispersants, as well as most anionic, cationic, and non ionic surfactants. The products in circulation on the market are usually a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMI) and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MI), and metal nitrite or metal nitrate are also added to improve stability and prevent decomposition, The action mechanism of isothiazolinone is to break the bond between bacteria and algal protein to play a killing role. After contact with microorganisms, it can rapidly and irreversibly inhibit their growth without chemobooks, thus leading to the death of microbial cells. It has a strong inhibition and killing effect on common bacteria (Sulfate-reducing bacteria, sludge forming bacteria), fungi (iron oxidizing bacteria, mold, yeast), algae, etc. It has the characteristics of high killing efficiency, good degradation, no residue, safe operation, good compatibility, strong stability, and low use cost. At high dosage, it has significant effect on biological slime stripping, and has been widely used in iron and steel smelting, oilfield water injection, thermal power generation, paper making, oil refining, chemical industry, light textile, industrial cleaning, pesticides, cutting oil water-based coatings, daily chemicals, printing ink, dyes, leather making and other fields.
