BHMTPMPA serves as both a scale inhibitor and a corrosion inhibitor in water treatment. As a scale inhibitor, it prevents the formation of calcium and magnesium carbonate/sulfate scales in equipment, while as a corrosion inhibitor, it forms a protective film on metal surfaces to mitigate corrosion. In industrial circulating systems, it is used for metal cleaning and pretreatment to remove rust, oxide layers, and dirt. In the paper industry, it controls calcium and magnesium ions in water to improve paper quality. Additionally, it acts as a catalyst or ligand in chemical synthesis and shows potential as a soil conditioner.
